Ken Aitchison, Ph.D., CEO/President

Dr. Aitchison served most recently as Vice President and General Manager of Temescal (a division of Edwards Vacuum, formerly BOC Edwards), the leading international supplier of electron beam deposition equipment to the compound semiconductor industry. Previously at BOC Edwards, he served as Vice President of Semiconductor Applications and as Vice President, Process Enabling Technology. Prior to joining BOC Edwards, Ken was at Novellus Systems for 9 years, where he held a number of senior management positions including Senior Director of Systems Engineering and Director of Chemical Systems. Dr. Aitchison additionally spent 7 years in technical and managerial roles at The Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, CA, as Manager, Thin Films and Advanced Processing Section and as a Member of the Technical Staff. Prior to the Aerospace Corporation, Kenneth was Director of Technology, Material Sciences Division, Genus, Inc. Dr. Aitchison holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Queen Mary College, University of London, and a B.A. in Chemistry from New York University.

Lynn E. Ochs, Senior Director, Worldwide Sales

Mr. Ochs served most recently as Director of Global Sales and Service of Plasma-Therm, Inc. (a division of Oerlikon, formerly Unaxis), a leading supplier of etch and PECVD equipment to the compound semiconductor and photomask industries. Previously at Applied Materials, he served as US Eastern Regional Manager of Sales. Prior to joining Applied, Lynn was at Perkin-Elmer for 8 years, where he held management positions including Senior Director of North American Sales for the Semiconductor Equipment Group. Ochs also spent 6 years in technical and managerial roles at Air Products and Chemicals, Allentown, PA in the Advanced Products Division following his United States Navy submarine service.

Boris Kobrin, Ph.D., Senior Director, Marketing & Business Development

Dr. Kobrin has been associated with the MEMS and Opto-Electronics for over 20 years. Most recently he led development of MEMS optical switching devices at Onix Microsystems. Previously, Dr. Kobrin worked on CCD sensors at Electron Corp, St. Petersburg, Russia; diffractive optics and microlens arrays at Holo Or Ltd, Israel and Rochester Photonics Corp, NY; phase and fiber Bragg gratings at Bragg Photonics, Canada. He also led an advanced process development for Data storage and MEMS at Plasma-Therm/Unaxis Corp, FL. In 2003 he became a founding team member of Applied Microstructures and as Director of Technology has pioneered new methods of nanocoatings deposition from a vapor phase. Currently, as Sr. Director of Marketing and Business Development Dr. Kobrin is leading strategic marketing efforts and company's business development. Boris Kobrin received his Ph.D. degree in Solid State Physics from Institute of Chemical Physics, the Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia.

Michael Grimes, Ph.D., Director, R&D

Dr. Grimes has held a variety of scientific positions at chromatography, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical companies during his career. Most recently, he served as a Principal Scientist in the Analytical Sciences Division at Alza Corporation (Johnson & Johnson). Prior to joining Alza, Dr. Grimes worked at both Ciphergen Biosystems and Dionex Corporation where he contributed to the successful commercial release of several products, including polymeric and silica-based chromatographic stationary phases and surface-modified biochips. Dr. Grimes received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University where he was an NIH Biotechnology Fellow.
